Lotte, Leica, Leitz. Wetzlar, located in Central Hesse, looks back on a long history and remains shaped by culture, commerce, and industry to this day. It was from here that the Leica camera set out on its unique journey to world fame. Johann Wolfgang Goethe was inspired to write his epistolary novel *The Sorrows of Young Werther* during his stay in the city. And this lively little town has lost none of its charm to this day. Where will the journey take you? The idyllic old town, in particular—with its many half-timbered houses, Baroque buildings along the banks of the Lahn, and the striking, still-unfinished cathedral—is wonderful to explore on foot. Whether explored with your own eyes or through a camera lens, one of today’s main tourist attractions is the modern Leitz Park, in which the hotel is nestled. So you simply can’t miss it. In Leitz Park in Wetzlar, where the hotel is also located, the Leica camera takes center stage and shapes the architecture, offerings, and exhibitions. For photography enthusiasts, the high-caliber, rotating exhibitions are a must-see. Thanks to exciting photography courses led by professionals, you, too, can improve your own photographic skills—and you can immediately put what you’ve learned into practice on a walk along the Leica Nature Trail.

When design and stories come together to create wonderful rooms full of personality. Photography serves as a unifying theme throughout the entire hotel. The 129 rooms and suites feature a clean, minimalist design and are furnished with oak parquet flooring and comfortable box-spring beds. What makes them special are the four unique suites: the Leica Suite, featuring design elements inspired by the legendary camera; a suite modeled after the studio of “Zagato,” Italy’s oldest surviving automotive body designer; and the two suites by Rolf Sachs, which reflect his photography studio and darkroom.
