On the outskirts of Franconian Switzerland, near the World Heritage city of Bamberg, you’ll find Burgellern Castle, built by the prince-bishops around 1720.The castle, which has been completely renovated since 2009, was already a popular gathering place for the Bavarian aristocracy in the early 19th century. While King Ludwig II (then still a prince) played among the chestnut trees in the castle park in 1853, the von Buseck brothers received King Maximilian II in the castle’s halls.The 7-hectare castle park invites you to take walks and relax on the green lawns during conference breaks. The kitchen team at Burgellern Castle is committed to the traditions of Franconian cuisine, but also treats guests to international specialties. In the stylish setting of the historic cathedral chapter’s summer residence, you can enjoy refined specialties inspired by the theme “Franconian Tuscany.”The restaurant is open daily starting at 5 p.m., and on Sundays and holidays starting at 11 a.m. We’re also flexible with reservations. Enjoy coffee and cake on our castle terrace at any time and relax in the tranquility of the spacious castle park.

Lage & Anfahrt

The nearby A70 highway (600 meters) connects Germany’s most important highways: the A9 from Munich to Berlin and the A3 from Regensburg to Cologne. Guests can reach the highway in just 2 minutes from our hotel grounds, reports Hotel Director Joachim Kastner: “Good highway access is becoming increasingly important, especially for conference planners. Even in small towns, you have to allow at least an hour for the drive from the highway exit and finding parking. That’s time that’s lost for important discussions and relaxing from the stress of everyday life.”
