Our spacious hotel complex, covering more than 3,500 m², is located in the center of the small town of Ilsenburg—which dates back over 1,000 years—at the foot of the Harz Mountains. The small town of Ilsenburg, situated directly adjacent to the Harz National Park, is rich in history and has been attracting vacationers and tourists for hundreds of years.

The former “Lindenhof” Hotel—now the “Altstadthotel Ilsenburg”—opened in 1879 and was later expanded with the addition of a ballroom.

The first film screenings in Ilsenburg took place here starting in 1912. The hall, now the guest wing, served as a venue for all kinds of balls after World War I.

Since then, extensive investments and renovations have been carried out throughout the hotel. Among other things, the kitchen and all guest rooms have been completely renovated.

The new sauna system, made of hand-selected aspen in the SL model, features the Chromo colored light system with 609 light points and the Finnstar Legend sauna heater with 120 kg of peridotite stones, along with very large ESG safety glass doors, as well as the infraredheating cabin with 5 x 350-watt Philips Vitae quartz heaters (IRC + IRB + IRA) featuring body, foot, and calf heaters—all combine to offer you the ultimate sauna experience. Bathrobes and sauna towels are available for a small fee for the duration of your stay. Unfortunately, due to a directive from the Federal Ministry of Finance in 2015, the use of the sauna for a fee can no longer be offered at the reduced VAT rate, and this is no longer a matter of the hotel’s discretion! Although the sauna facility is available to guests daily from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., it can also be turned on earlier if needed. The relaxation room features a state-of-the-art infrared cabin with genuine color light therapy. This is particularly suitable for treating: osteoarthritis, soft-tissue rheumatism, spinal disorders, asthma, bronchitis, infections, immune deficiencies, pain, stress, muscle tension, and cancer.
